Here's what sets a good waxing bed apart from an okay one.

Width and Stability Are Critical

Waxing involves a lot of client movement — turning over, repositioning legs, raising arms. A narrow bed (under 65cm) feels insecure. Clients instinctively tense up, which makes waxing more painful and harder for the esthetician.

Look for a bed at least 70cm (28 inches) wide. The bed should not wobble or shift when the client moves. A wide, heavy base makes a big difference in stability.

Material Considerations for Waxing

Wax gets everywhere. Your bed's upholstery needs to handle regular contact with wax, oils, and sanitizing products.

PU leather is the best choice — it's waterproof, wax wipes off easily, and it's impervious to most solvents. Avoid fabric upholstery entirely for waxing rooms.

Seamless or minimal seam design matters too. Wax can seep into seams and crevices. One-piece cushion tops are ideal.

Disposable paper roll holders — Many waxing beds include a bracket for disposable paper rolls. Fresh paper for each client keeps the bed clean and professional.

Electric vs Manual for Waxing

For waxing, electric adjustment is useful but not essential. Unlike facials or lash work, most waxing is done on a flat bed at a consistent height.

However, electric height adjustment is valuable if the same room is used for other treatments. Being able to raise or lower the bed with a foot pedal is convenient between services.

If budget is tight, a manual hydraulic bed works perfectly for a dedicated waxing room.
